Tips For Those Starting To Buy Their Chimichurri In Wholesale Quantities

Posted on: 2 February 2022

Chimichurri is often cheaper when you buy it in larger quantities from a wholesale company, rather than in smaller quantities from local grocers. However, when you first start buying it in this way, there can be a bit of a learning curve. You have to adapt to having so much chimichurri to go through all at once, and you may need to come up with some in-house strategies for keeping it fresh and well packaged. Here are some tips to help you when buying chimichurri wholesale.

Be careful when opening the packaging.

As you know, chimichurri is mostly liquid. As such, there is a possibility of it leaking, even if your supplier goes out of their way to put it in a well-sealed container. A little of the chimichurri may seep out of the sides of the container. So, be careful when opening the outer packaging on the chimichurri. Have a soft towel handy to clean up any drips. If your chimichurri ends up leaking a lot when it arrives, let the supplier know. They'll appreciate the feedback as it will allow them to make informed changes to their packaging.

Transfer the chimichurri to separate containers.

Constantly dishing chimichurri out of one big container is not a good strategy. If someone accidentally contaminates the container, then all of your chimichurri will be ruined. Plus, having to take that container out of the cooler repeatedly will mean it get warm, then cold, then warm a lot, which can accelerate spoiling. So, when you get your new chimichurri in, one of the first things you should do is portion it into several individual containers. This way, you can use up one container completely before opening another. If someone accidentally contaminates one container, you won't have ruined the whole order.

Pay attention to how quickly you go through it.

Mark off the days that it takes you to do through all of the chimichurri. This way, you will learn how often you need to order more. For example, if it takes you 5 days to go through your first wholesale order, then you may want to arrange to have our supplier deliver a new container every 4 days so you always have some on-hand.

Wholesale chimichurri can be convenient for restaurant owners. Follow the tips above when you first make the switch, and you'll be set. Make sure your kitchen staff is on-board with these guidelines, too.
